Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles will make your heart dance and swim in the magic on the page, even if you have two left feet like I do.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am absolutely ecstatic and honored to have been an ARC reader of #WhereDreamsDescend (thanks again Goodreads and Wednesday Books!!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Inspired by The Night Circus and The Phantom of the Opera, Angeles crafted a ”spectaculore” show-stopping debut novel. She writes such delicious characters who will steal your heart as they did mine. (Characters are my number one favorite part of any novel). This story is built around Kallia: a fiercely intelligent woman; it was a joy to read about such an unapologetic protagonist who took on her world with red lipstick and an arsenal of confidence. The story and the world are perfect for musical theatre fans — I felt the same awe, giddiness, and love reading Angeles’s words as I do watching and listening to a live performance. And lastly, on a more personal note, the book concluded with a lovely acknowledgements section (my favorite way to end a book experience).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Simply put, it’s an impeccable, magical debut. I cannot wait for June 2nd for you to be able to awed as much as I’ve been. It was an absolute *dream* to photograph 2020 debut YA novelist. Her magical novel Where Dreams Descend comes out next year. My fellow musical lovers — be on the lookout for Janella and her words. The cover is absolute gorgeous and yes it’s even more beautiful in person.
