While Sarah & Sean are originally both from Vermont, the two moved to Maine in their young adult years and have now made a home for themselves in “Vacationland” as it’s often referred. Maine has the beautiful coastline that Vermont doesn’t, and they love visiting Portland and Augusta for outings.
This specific location was chosen by Sarah herself because she knew she wanted water to be featured in her engagement photos. The couple both love the water and it’s something that’s tied them together as a shared passion as well as a way to facilitate a shared activity: fly fishing.
This location features a beautiful river, bridge, and small waterfall. It has a fairly accessible trail in that it’s well maintained and larger than most trails, and the parking isn’t too far from this bridge area. Plus, there’s even second bridge for extra sightings.
Together for over 11 years at this point, Sarah and Sean were recently engaged over New Year’s Eve. They met at the end of the scholastic year one year when Sean was in middle school and Sarah was in high school.
Together for over 11 years at this point, Sarah and Sean were recently engaged over New Year’s Eve. They met at the end of the scholastic year one year when Sean was in middle school and Sarah was in high school. When told the joyous news, all of their family enthusiastically replied with some variation of “well, it’s about time!”. It was inevitable that the pair would get married, it was just a matter of time.
As a couple they decided that Sean would do the official proposal. They both knew they wanted to get married so that part was not a surprise, but Sean wanted the actual proposal itself to be a surprise experience for Sarah. Well, let’s just say that for as much as Sean loves Sarah, he did not know how to play it cool. Sarah had her suspicions when Sean had to (try to) subtly tell his friend that he was indeed not free over New Year’s Day, but for no specific reason whatsoever.
The setting for the proposal was a romantic evening date at a local Botanic Garden in Maine. The first time they went was during peak Covid times where every guest was in their own car, driving through the installations. They were able to bring Lily, their four-legged family and it was such a fond memory that Sean knew it would be a beautiful spot to propose at. Among all the twinkly fairy lights and beautiful greenery and florals, Sean bent down on one knee away from all the crowds, and proposed to the love of his life. They will get married in May of next year in an intimate ceremony featuring the beautiful Maine vistas in the background.
As a technical senior dog at 9 years old, that doesn’t stop Lily from having bountiful and seemingly endless energy. They have been happy dog parents together for over 4 years at this point and could not imagine their lives without Lily. She is a big fan of hogging as much of the bed as possible, so she now has her own dedicated bed so that everyone can sleep soundly. While she couldn’t attend the official engagement session, she did have her own mini at-home session just for herself (just how she would have preferred, anyways).
